Feeding Guidelines

Provide fresh food daily in a heavy ceramic bowl or hopper feeder. Remove uneaten food after 24 hours to prevent spoilage. Rats typically consume 15-20g (approximately 1 tablespoon) per day; mice consume 3-5g (approximately 1 teaspoon) per day. Nursing or pregnant females may consume 50-100% more. Adjust amounts based on activity level, life stage, and body condition—you should be able to feel but not prominently see ribs. A 25 lb bag provides approximately 11,340g, enough to feed one rat for approximately 1.5-2 years or one mouse for 6-9 years. Provide fresh water at all times in sipper bottle or bowl. Supplement with small amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables 2-3 times per week for variety.
