Female Dark Brahma chicks are from a large Brahma variety recognized in the American Standard of Perfection in 1874. Dark Brahmas as production-type birds with feathered legs, penciled gray-and-black plumage in hens, and brown egg production estimated at about 150 to 200 eggs per year. The breed is described as docile and calm.
